Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I contact you about my event?
You should have your date and venue selected before submitting a serious inquiry. This is to make sure I am available on your date. Most clients book their flowers 6-12 months in advance; however, I am willing to work with you 60 days from your event date.
How do I book you for an event?
Once you have filled out and submitted the inquiry form found here, I will contact you to set up a phone or Zoom consultation. An approximate estimate will be emailed if we decide to work together.
I require a 25% retainer to secure your date, due when you sign your contract. Now the fun begins! You will receive a mood board reflecting your vision (this is where changes can be made). We will meet in person or via phone/Zoom 6-8 weeks before your event date to finalize the details.
Final payment is due 30 days before your wedding/event.
Can you guarantee specific flower requests?
While I always do my best to source your favorite flowers, sometimes Mother Nature has a mind of her own! Seasonal availability, weather, flower durability, crop conditions, or other factors beyond my control are always taken into account. I recommend keeping an open mind and thinking more about the overall design and color palette of your vision.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes. Details will be described in your contract.
What influences the cost of flowers?
Seasonality: Flowers in season tend to be more cost-effective.
Quality: Premium blooms, like peonies, garden roses, or butterfly ranunculus, cost 8-10 times more than a standard red rose, carnations, or a spray of mums.
Time/Labor/Complexity: A small centerpiece requires less planning, design time, and manpower compared to a large-scale floral installation!
Stem Count: A wedding bouquet can use anywhere from 30-40 flower stems. A birthday or get-well bouquet you might gift to someone typically has only 10-12 stems.
Where do you source your flowers?
As a commitment to sustainability, I do my best to source seasonal, U.S. grown flowers as often as possible.
This reduces my carbon footprint and supports our local farmers.
Flower Care Tips
1. Make sure your flowers have plenty of clean water to drink.
Refresh the water in your vase every 24-48 hours.
2. Remove all leaves below the water line.
This prevents additional bacterial growth.
3. When recutting stems, use a pair of sharp scissors and cut at a 45-degree angle.
A dull blade can crush the vessels that carry water to your bloom.
4. The cooler and darker the room, the better.
Keep flowers away from sunny windowsills and direct heat sources.
5. Do not place near fresh fruit.
Ripening fruit releases ethylene gas, which can reduce longevity.
6. Feed your flowers.
Add 1/4 teaspoon of bleach (kills bacteria) and a splash of Sprite (sugar feeds the blooms) each time you freshen your vase.
7. Remember that flowers are not meant to last forever!
Close your eyes. Inhale. Be present and smile.
